The Washington Huskies and Rutgers Scarlet Knights will meet for the first time of the Big Ten Conference. Washington is 3-1 this season and opened their conference play with a dominant 24-5 win at home over Northwestern. Their only loss was to in-state rival, the Washington State Cougars in the Apple Cup. Rutgers has not played a conference game this season and is coming off a 26-23 road win over Virginia Tech. Washington shut down the Northwestern offense, allowing 2.0 yards per pass and 2.3 yards per rush, for just 112 total yards of offense. The Huskies are led by Will Rogers. He has thrown for 1,048 yards with eight touchdowns and zero interceptions. Jonah Coleman has rushed for 373 yards and four TDs.Washington is putting up 27.0 points a game and is giving up 10.3 points. Rutgers is putting up 39.7 points a game. The offense is led by Athan Kaliakmanis with 646 passing yards with six touchdowns and one interception. Kyle Monangai has rushed for 457 yards and five TDs. On the defensive side, they are giving up 15.7 points a game. Rutgers has covered the spread in each of its last ten September games as a home-betting favorite against non-AP-ranked opponents. This will be Washington's first game outside of Seattle. Washington’s Will Rogers started his career at Mississippi State, so laying on the road at Rutgers will not be a bi deal. The Huskies have the playmakers, to get the job done but will need to avoid turnovers. Washington’s pass defense has been great and this will be the best defense that Rutgers has faced this year. The Huskies will stack the box and make Rutgers beat them through the air. I like the Huskies on the road in this one.
