The Atlanta Braves take on the San Diego Padres in game one of the NL Wildcard Series. The Braves needed to win the second game of a double header yesterday to make the playoffs. The Mets have not named a starter but we know for a fact it won’t be Chris Sale. In fact we might not see him in this series. Bryce Elder, Ian Anderson, and AJ Smith-Shawyer are the candidates to pitch. Bryce Elder had a 6.52 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP to go with a 2-5 record in 49.2 innings. AJ Smith-Shawver has only pitched 4.1 innings with the Braves this season. Atlanta is putting up 4.34 runs per game, ranking them 15th. They have a 3.48 ERA which was second. The Padres will go with Michael King on the mound. He has allowed one or zero runs in four of his last six starts with 2.95 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP to go with a 13-9 record. San Diego is putting up 4.69 runs a game and had a 3.86 team ERA. Atlanta had to play the doubleheader against the Mets on Monday to determine the wildcard seeding. The Braves had to travel to San Diego on Monday night. I like the Padres is game one as yesterday took a lot out of Atlanta.
