I don't understand the justification that UAB is 10 points better than Rice. Rice has only lost to Houston and USC who are much better competition than UAB who hasn't faced comparable opponents. Rice doesn't run the ball better than UAB but they are the much better team with the football in the air, averaging 262 passing yards per game this year and UAB is allowing an average of 179 yards in the passing game. UAB are allowing 12 more yards per average on the ground, but less yards in the air than Rice; however we must take into account the level of competition to begin the season, meaning that if they are near even stats between the two teams in offensive yards allowed, the team with the better competition would likely have better stats if the roles were reversed. Take the owls to defend their turf and maybe even spark an upset at home.
