I’m on the Jets +5.5 @ The 49ers for these reasons:

- Jets defense should do enough against Brock Purdue who struggles with pressure under center and edge contain on his play action drop backs. Jets were a top 10 defense the last 3 seasons and should continue being very scrappy and gritty in this week one matchup of run first offenses where the pace will be slow and the scoring will be low.

- Christian McCaffery is injured, and though we don’t know the extend or seriousness of it, it only helps the jets with him not being 80 to 100%. Also, jets are weakest against the pass and not so much the run, so expect Mccaffery to be seen in more open field situations than running behind the line of scrimmage.

- Aaron Rodger’s can exploit this 49ers defense through the air as we have seen before, and with a revamped Offensive Line he should have more time in the pocket, preventing him from having to scramble and put himself in danger like last season when he went down.

- 49ers injury list is an important one. Missing Hufanga at safety (Run Stopper), Dre Greenlaw at Middle Linebacker still missing from his Superbowl Injury (Run Stopper), and Yetur Moss Gratos also missing at defensive end, it’s a perfect situation for Breece Hall and the Jets who should be able to mix up the offense well since 49ers are lacking people that normally help stack the box against good rushers.
