The Mariners are coming into this game playing well recently as they have won their last 3 straight games but they have also been beating up on the Royals in those games as those are their only 3 wins in their last 6 games. They are going up against an Astros team that has been heating up in their recent games as they have won their last 2 straight as well as 4 of their last 6 games and their offense has also been getting much better in those as well. Bryce Miller is starting for the Mariners here and he is 7-4 with a 4.04 ERA this season. He is just a rookie and has been pitching well in his last 2 starts but he has also been very inconsistent as he has allowed at least 6 earned runs in 2 of his last 4 starts. He has also been much worse on the road this season as he has allowed at least 3 earned runs in 4 of his last 5 starts, allowing at least 6 earned runs in 2 of his last 4 road starts as well. The Astros offense has been getting much better recently as they are scoring more runs now and they have been on fire as they are trying to win the AL West and catch the leading Rangers. J.P. France is starting for the Astros here and he is 9-3 with a 2.74 ERA this season. He is also a rookie but has been much more consistent than miller has been this season as France has allowed just 2 earned runs or less in each of his last 6 straight starts. He has also been much better at home as he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in each of his last 3 as well as 5 of his last 6 starts there, allowing no more than 3 earned runs in any of those starts. He also pitched very well against the Mariners in Seattle at the beginning of the season and he will continue to shut them down here while the Astros offense continues to score runs the way they have been scoring recently.
