Oklahoma is coming into this game off of a huge 73-0 win to start the season. They needed to show some results after last season's awful year but Brent Venables was not left much when he got here last year. Now Venables has had a year to work with his starting QB and he was able to recruit the right defensive players for his system. Oklahoma needed to come out strong in their 1st game of the season and they definitely did as the passing game was clicking all day and they scored 73 points on a Sun Belt team in Arkansas State. Not only was their offense rolling, but their defense was much better as they blanked Arkansas State in that game and their defense is the real deal this season. Oklahoma is looking to send a message this season before they move to the SEC as they want to win the Big 12 one last time and completely dominate it. They are going to be running up the score in every game and they are going up against an SMU team that has an awful defense that will definitely allow points. SMU did get a lot better in the portal with a much stronger offense as they won their last game 38-14 over LA Tech, but that game was at home and LA Tech still threw the ball well against them. Oklahoma is going to rack up points in this game all day on that awful defense and as good as SMU is on offense, they are not going to be able to crack this Oklahoma defense that has much improved. Oklahoma is going to cover the spread in this game.
