The Rays are coming into this game playing very well recently as they are coming into the playoffs winning their last 2 straight as well as 4 of their last 5 games. They were in a race with the Orioles to win the AL East which they lost but that has also pushed them to stay hot coming into this game. They are going up against a Rangers team that was in a similar situation in the AL West but they totally dropped the ball as they have lost 3 of their last 4 as well as 4 of their last 6 games and now play in the Wild Card. Jordan Montgomery is starting for the Rangers here and he is 10-11 with a 3.20 ERA this season. He has been great in his last 4 starts but he has not been striking many batters out while also giving up a lot of hits. He has not faced the Rays in a game all season but the Rays have one of the best offenses in the MLB this season and they have been crushing left handed pitchers all year. Tyler Glasnow is starting for the Rays and he is 10-7 with a 3.53 ERA this season. He has not been great in his last 4 starts but he has been much better at home as he has allowed just 2 earned runs or less in 6 of his last 7 home starts, allowing 1 earned run or less in 5 of those. He also shut down the Rangers at home earlier this season and the Rays have a much better bullpen to back him up than the Rangers do. The Rays have been a much more dominant team at home all season as well and they are going to open up this series with a win at home. The Rays will win this game.
