AMEDEUS' MLB DIAMOND DINGER!
(MLB) Toronto vs. Minnesota,
Money Line: -102.00 Toronto (Away)
Result: Loss
The Blue Jays are coming into this game losing their last 2 games of the season but their offense has been very hot coming into the playoffs. They have scored at least 5 runs or more in each of their last 4 games and they have scored 8 runs or more in 2 of their last 3. They are going up against a Twins team that won 2 of their last 3 games to end the season but they have also seen a lot of teams with losing records in this stretch over the last few weeks. They are in the playoffs because they won the AL Central but their record would actually have them not making it into the Wild Card spot if they had to fight for that. Pablo López is starting for the Twins here and he is 11-8 with a 3.66 ERA this season. He has not been pitching well in his recent starts as he has allowed at least 3 earned runs in each of his last 3 starts and all against bottom half offenses in the MLB. He has even struggled in his home starts as he has allowed at least 3 runs in 4 of his last 5 starts at home and he also got lit up for 4 runs by this Blue Jays offense earlier in the season. Kevin Gausman is starting for the Blue Jays here and he is 12-9 with a 3.16 ERA this season. He has been their most consistent starter all season and he has been pitching well recently as he has allowed just 1 earned run or less in 3 of his last 4 starts. The Twins do not have a strong offense so Gausman will be able to shut them down with the way he has been pitching and the Blue Jays also have a much stronger offense to lean on if they fall behind. The Blue Jays are going to win this game and take a 1-0 series lead.
