FIU is coming into this game off of an awful 38-6 loss at home but they were also playing against Liberty who is 4-0 right now and looks like the best team in the conference. They are going to be hungry to bounce back after that bad loss and they are going up against a New Mexico State team that has not been good this season. FIU is 3-2 this season but their 2 losses came against Liberty and LA Tech who are both 2-0 in the CUSA. New Mexico State is only 2-3 this season and even though they also lost to a very good Liberty team, their other 2 losses were against UMass and Hawaii who are both 1-5 and 2-4 this season respectively. New Mexico State is also dealing with a lot of drama around their starting QB Diego Pavia over something he was caught doing and he is now facing a possible suspension for his actions. Whether he plays or not does not matter as the offense would be much worse off without him but also him playing in this offense has not produced many results either. They have scored less than 20 points in 2 of their last 3 games and they have had no run game either unless it is Pavia running the ball. FIU is a scrappy team that finds ways to win games against better teams and they are going to find a way to keep this game close after the way they were embarrassed at home in their last game.
