Fresno State is coming into this game playing very well this season as they are 5-1 overall but they have also had a very weak schedule to start the year. All 5 of their wins have come against teams with losing records as they beat Eastern Washington from the FCS who is 2-3, Purdue who is 2-4, Arizona State and Kent State who are both 1-5, and Nevada who is 0-5 this season. Then in their last game they played against a good Wyoming team with a 5-1 record and they lost by 5 points on the road in the elevation. Now they are playing B2B games on the road with both of these games being played at altitude and that is going to take a lot out of this Fresno State team that has not faced much tough competition. They are going up against a Utah State team that has not been great as they are only 3-3 this season but they have also had a much tougher schedule and have been playing a lot better in their recent games. They have lost 3 games this year but all 3 wins have come against teams with winning records as they lost to Iowa who is 5-1, Air Force who is 5-0, and James Madison who is 5-0. They have played much weaker opponents in their last 2 games as they played against Colorado State and UConn and now they have won their last 2 straight. Their offense has also been much better recently as they have scored at least 34 points in each of their last 3 games. Utah State has also won 3 of their last 4 meetings between these two straight up. This is a tough spot for Fresno State on the road against an improving Utah State team that is not as bad as their record suggests. Utah State will cover the spread in this game.
