Iona is coming into this game with a 6-7 record this season and they have taken a big step back from last season with Rick Pitino as their head coach. Losing Pitino was a big loss for this team and it has already shown in their non-conference games with their losing record. They have been playing better recently as they have won 3 of their last 4 games but they are also 1-1 in the MAAC this season. They beat Fairfield on the road in 1 of their conference games but they also lost at home to Marist. They have lost 2 of their 4 games on the road this season as well and they are going to be on the road in this game as well. They are going up against a Saint Peter's side that is 6-5 this season and has also been playing very well in their recent games. They had a very rough start to the season as they had lost 4 of their first 5 games but then they had 2 straight conference games which they won both games and that really gave them a spark going forward. They are now 2-0 in the conference with both of those wins coming on the road against Niagara and Canisius, and those 2 wins also sparked this streak they are on as they have won 5 of their last 6 games now, including their last 3 straight. They are 2-1 at home this season with their only loss there coming against a good 9-4 UMass-Lowell team, but they have won their last 2 straight games there and will be hungry to win their 1st home conference game of the season as well. Saint Peter's is a much better team at home and they will take advantage of this opportunity against a weakened Iona team that is on the decline from last season.
