Texas is coming into this game with a 21-12 record this season and they were 9-9 in their conference. They were not a great team in the Big 12 this season as they were much lower in the standings and they were awful in their conference tournament as they fizzled out in their 1st round with a loss to Kansas State. They are coming off of a 12 point win against Colorado State in their last game, but they also won that game with some awful shooting, specifically from beyond the arc, and they have been very inconsistent recently as they have been alternating between wins and losses in their last 5 games. They are going up against a Tennessee team that is 25-8 this season and was 14-4 in their conference. They fizzled out of the SEC Tournament in their 1st round with a 10+ point loss to Mississippi State but they had the best record in their conference during the regular season and are also coming off of a 30+ point win against Saint Peter's in the 1st round. They have been playing very well recently as they have won 8 of their last 10 games and bounced back in their last game with that big win which will give them confidence here. Texas does have a bit of an advantage with their shooting this season, but not by much, and they are also coming off of a game that they were awful in with their shooting. This will be a much more difficult game for them as well as Tennessee does have the offense to match them as well as a much better defense that is top 31 in the country with 3 point defense and 3rd in the country for defense from the field. Tennessee also has a massive edge with their rebounding this year and they will dispose of this Texas team that does not really belong in this tournament. Tennessee will cover the spread in this game.
