The Braves are coming into this game with Spencer Strider on the mound to start the season. Strider is coming off of a very good season which he finished 20-5 with a 3.86 ERA, and he has continued that into this season as well. He has been great in Spring Training as he made 6 starts, going 3-1 with a 0.79 ERA as he only allowed 2 earned runs in close to 23 innings pitched. He was also very good against the Phillies last season as he never allowed more than 3 earned runs in any of his 4 starts, pitching at least 6 innings in all of those, and he was actually better in his 2 starts in Philadelphia as he only allowed 1 earned run in each of those 2 starts. They are going up against a Phillies team that has Zack Wheeler starting in this game and he has also been very good in Spring Training. He allowed 2 earned run in a little over 14 innings pitched, going 0-0 with a 1.26 ERA. He was 13-6 last season with a 3.61 ERA, but he actually struggled more in his ponly start at home against the Braves last season. He was much better in his 2 starts against the Braves on the road, but the only game he started at home against them he allowed 6 earned runs in 5 innings pitched. The Braves are always a threat to win the National League and they will be hungry to come out and make a statement against this division rival in their 1st game of the season. The Braves will win this game.
