Total: 9.00 | -122.00 Over
Result: Win
The Yankees are coming into this game playing in some very high scoring games recently. They have seen 10+ runs total in their last 3 straight as well as 6 of their last 7 games. Their offense has been much better as they have scored at least 7 runs in each of their last 2 as well as 3 of their last 5 games, scoring 15 runs in their last 2 games alone, but their pitching has also been awful as they have allowed at least 8 runs in each of their last 3 games, allowing 29 runs total in that 3 game span. They are going up against a Red Sox team that is also playing in a lot of high scoring games recently. They have seen 10+ runs in each of their last 3 as well as 6 of their last 7 games. Their offense has been very good in these games as they have scored at least 6 runs in each of their last 7 games, but their pitching has been awful as they have also allowed at least 7 runs in each of their last 3 as well as 6 of their last 7 games, allowing 38 runs in their last 3 games alone. Tanner Houck is starting for the Red Sox in this game and he is 8-6 with a 2.71 ERA this season. He has not been pitching as well in his recent starts as he allowed 4 earned runs in his last start and he has allowed at least 3 runs in 6 of his last 7 starts, even allowing 8 runs in one of those starts. He pitched a 6 inning shutout against the A's in his last home start, but he also allowed 8 runs at home against the Padres in his home start prior to that one. He allowed 3 runs against the Yankees earlier this month as well and the Yankees offense has been much better in their recent games now. Carlos Rodón is starting for the Yankees in this game and he is 10-7 with a 4.42 ERA this season. He has been pitching better in his recent starts as he has only allowed 3 runs total in his last 2 starts, but prior to those he had allowed at least 3 earned runs in 5 straight starts, giving up 4+ runs in 4 of those 5. He has been much worse in recent road starts as well, allowing at least 2 earned runs in each of his last 4 as well as allowing at least 4 earned runs in 3 of those, including a start which he allowed 8 earned runs in. He also allowed 5 earned runs against the Red Sox at Fenway earlier this season and this game will be no different with the way the Red Sox offense has been scoring recently. This series is too important to both teams in the division race so neither team is going to lay down here if they go down, just like they have not in both games of this series so far. The last 4 straight meetings between these two at Fenway this season have all seen 10+ runs total as well. Between these two teams, there will be enough runs in this game to push it over the total.
