Money Line: -115.00 Pirates (PIT) (Home)
Result: Win
Money Line: -115.00 Pirates (PIT) (Home)
Result: Win
The Diamondbacks are coming into this game with a 59-51 record this season and they have been playing well in their recent games. They have won their last 4 straight as well as 8 of their last 9 games and their offense has been great in these, but their pitching not so much. They allowed 8 runs in a 9-8 win over the Pirates on Friday and they have allowed at least 8 runs in 2 of their last 4 games as well. They are going up against a Pirates team that is 55-54 this season, but they have been starting to play better in their recent games. They have won 3 of their last 5 games and just won a series against the Astros early in the week. Their offense has been heating up in these games as well, scoring at least 6 runs in 2 of their last 3 as well as 3 of their last 5 games, and they have also scored at least 4 runs in each of their last 6. Jordan Montgomery is starting for the Diamondbacks in this game and he is 7-5 with a 6.51 ERA this season. He has been struggling all season with the runs he has been allowing in his starts, and he has not been good in his recent starts either. He allowed 6 earned runs in his last start and has allowed at least 6 earned runs in 2 of his last 3 starts as well. In his last start, he allowed 6 earned runs in 4 innings against a very weak Nationals offense and he is going to do the same against a Pirates offense that has been heating up recently. His team still won that game 9-8 with a great offensive effort, but they are going to struggle a lot more to score in this road game. Mitch Keller is starting for the Pirates in this game and he is 10-5 with a 3.30 ERA this season. He has been very consistent all season and has been pitching well in his recent starts. He has allowed just 2 earned runs or less in each of his last 4 starts, his team winning all 4 of those games and scoring at least 6 runs in 3 of those, and he is coming off of a start against the Diamondbacks which he allowed 2 earned runs in 7 innings on the road. Keller just shut this lineup down on the road and he has actually been much better at home recently as he has allowed 1 earned run or less in 6 of his last 7 home starts. He is going to have another great start here at home against a lineup he just pitched very well against on the road and the Pirates will score the runs needed to win with their offense heating up now, especially with the way Montgomery and that Diamondbacks bullpen has been pitching recently. The Pirates will bounce back here and win this game at home.
