He has also been better at home as he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in his last 5 straight as well as 6 of his last 7 starts there, allowing no more than 3 earned runs in any of his 8 home starts this season. Logan Gilbert is starting for the Mariners in this game and he is 7-8 with a 2.91 ERA this season. He allowed no runs in his last start and has been pitching well in August, but he has also been more consistent in his home starts this year. He was actually awful in his last road start as he allowed 7 earned runs in less than 3 innings against the Red Sox, and his 2 worst starts of the season have been on the road, also allowing 8 earned runs in a road start much earlier this year. The Pirates do not have a great offense but they usually get up for Skenes when he is starting and they are going to score runs here at home with the way Gilbert has been more inconsistent on the road. The Mariners offense has not been great this season either or in their recent games so they are going to struggle to score runs in this game with Skenes hungry to bounce back at home from his last start. This is a great spot for the Pirates to snap their losing streak at home and get a win. The Pirates will win this game.
