Arizona is coming into this game off of a 10-3 season last year, but now they are going to have a very different team with head coach Jedd Fisch gone. Fisch turned that program around in a short amount of time, but even with him gone, they have a lot of talent left on the team. Fifita is the starting quarterback and he is coming off of a great season which he had to take over for injured QB Jatden De Laura. He completed 72.4% of his passes, throwing for 2,869 yards with 25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. They are going to have a new running back this season but they did return a lot of their receiving talent from last year, including their leading receiver Tetairoa McMillan who had over 1,000 receiving yards. They also had a very strong passing offense which averaged over 300 yards per game and 34.6 points scored per game. They are in a new conference this season so they have a lot to prove, and their head coach has a lot to prove as well taking over for Fisch so Arizona will be looking to impress in this home opener with a big offensive night. They are going up against a New Mexico team that is already 0-1 this season after week 0, losing at home 35-31 to FCS team Montana State. They blew a late lead in that game as their defense started to collapse as the game went on, and they were absolutely torched on the ground as well. Arizona has a much stronger passing offense, but New Mexico's inability to stop the run will only help open up this passing game for Arizona which can do some damage. Arizona was still averaging 21.1 points allowed per game last season though and New Mexico showed they can score some points in their 1st game, especially with the strong start they had, so they are going to move the ball in this game and get some points on the board as well. Between these two teams, there will be enough points in this game to push it over the total.
