Result: Win
The Dolphins are coming into this game off of a win against the Jaguars 20-17 in their 1st game of the season. The Dolphins came out very slow on offense, scoring just 7 points in the 1st half. Their defense was able to keep the Jaguars from scoring in the 2nd half which allowed them to come back and win by 3 with a last second field goal, but the offense struggled a lot, even in the 2nd half. Tagovailoa had 338 passing yards and 1 TD, but he only completed 23/37 passes which is not very good considering he is known for his high accuracy, something he did not have in that 1st game. They also struggled to run the ball which is going to make their offense very 1-dimensional if they struggle to run the ball here against the Bills. Their defense held up in the 2nd half, but they are missing a lot of key pieces on defense that could leave them open against this very good Bills offense. They are going up against a Bills team that won their 1st game of the season against the Cardinals 34-28. The Bills started slowly as well, scoring no points in the 1st quarter, but they picked up in the 2nd quarter with 10 points, making it 17-10 at half, and then stormed their way back in the 2nd half, never looking back once they took the lead. The Bills have a much more balanced offense this season with James Cook in the run game, something they lacked for years with Josh Allen. Allen still has the ability to use his legs as well which gives this Bills offense a very difficult element to defend. He was very clinical with his passing in that game and he can pick apart defenses even better with their strong run game now. The Bills won both meetings against the Dolphins last season, including the game on the road at the end of the season when the winner would take the AFC East. Mike McDaniel is only 1-4 against the Bills since taking over as the head coach in 2022, including 1 playoff loss as well, and his 1 win was also by 2 points at home. The Bills dominance goes back much further though as the Bills have won the last 4 straight as well as 11 of the last 12 meetings with the Dolphins, including 4 of the last 5 meetings in Miami. The Bills have the quality to beat this Dolphins team on the road as Josh Allen and Sean McDermott know how to beat this team as well. The Bills will cover the spread in this game.
