Total: 56.50 | -105.00 Over
Result: Win
Syracuse is coming into this game playing in some higher scoring games this season. Their first 2 games of the season both saw 59+ points total while their last 2 games have only seen 52 and 56 points total, but both teams have scored at least 20 points in all 3 of their games against FBS opponents this season. Their offense has been consistent but their defense has also been allowing a lot of points. They are going up against a UNLV side that has also been playing in some higher scoring games recently. They have seen 60+ points total in 2 of their last 3 games, and that includes both of their home games played this season. Their offense has gone off in those 2 home games as well, scoring a combined 131 points between the 2 games, but also allowing 14 points in each. They are coming off of a 59-14 win against Fresno State in their last game and they are hungry to prove that they are better off with Williams as their starting quarterback than Sluka. The strength of this UNLV offense is their run game though, averaging 283 rushing yards per game and 5.7 yards per carry. The passing game has not been great, but they were very efficient in their last game with Williams and the strong run game is only going to open up more opportunities in the passing game. Syracuse has not been bad at defending the run, but they are still averaging 139 rushing yards allowed per game and 4.7 yards per carry so UNLV is going to rip some big runs off in this game which will lead to some quicker scoring. UNLV has a very good run defense as they only average 83.5 rushing yards allowed per game, but they are more vulnerable in the passing game and that is the strength of this Syracuse offense. Syracuse is averaging 372.5 passing yards per game and Kyle McCord has been completing 64.4% of his passes with an average of 8.2 yards per attempt. Syracuse is more of a pass heavy team with McCord so they will be able to move the ball against this UNLV defense that has struggled more to defend the pass. Syracuse also has the ability to come back with quick scores in the passing game if they fall behind here so each team is going to drive the score up in this game. Between these two sides, there will be enough points in this game to push it over the total.
