Virginia Tech is coming into this game with a 2-3 record this season and they are 0-1 in the SEC. They are coming off of their conference loss in their last game, losing 38-34 on the road against Miami. They played very well in that game and almost came away with a win, but this is going to be a very tough game for them with the travel and the bad matchup. They are going up against a Stanford team that is 2-2 this season and they are 1-1 in the ACC. They are coming off of a loss against Clemson in their last game, but they won against Syracuse on the road the week prior. This is their 1st home game in 2 weeks and they are going to get up for this game since it is their 1st conference game at home as an ACC team. Stanford has not had a great passing offense this season, but their run game has been very good with their dual threat quarterback, averaging 162.3 rushing yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry. That matches up well against this Virginia Tech defense as that has been their biggest weakness this season, averaging 177.8 rushing yards allowed per game and 4.5 yards per carry. Stanford will be able to run the ball against this defense at home and that is going to open up the passing game for them to move the ball through the air as well. Virginia Tech has not had a great passing offense this season either, being a more run heavy team that is averaging 192.2 rushing yards per game and 5 yards per carry, but that is also going to be attacking the heart of this Stanford defense. Stanford has not had a great pass defense, but they have been great at stopping the run, averaging just 76.3 rushing yards allowed per game and only 3 yards per carry. That is going to disrupt this Virginia Tech offense as they will not be able to run the ball as effectively and that is going to force Drones to throw the ball more, something he has not been very efficient at all season. Stanford will cover the spread in this game.
