Utah State is coming into this game playing in a lot of high scoring games recently. They have seen 70+ points total in each of their last 2 games, but both of those games were on the road as well. They have actually played in lower scoring games at home this season as both of their home games this year have stayed under 60 points. They are going up against a UNLV team that has also been playing in some high scoring games recently, coming off of a game which saw 80+ total points and seeing 70+ points total in each of their last 2 games as well. Both of those games were at home though and that trend has been very different on the road. UNLV has played 2 road games this season and both of those games were much lower in score, seeing 43 points total or less in each. Even their offense has not been as good as they have not scored more than 27 points in either of those road games. UNLV is also going to keep this game on the ground as they have a very strong run game that is averaging 251.8 rushing yards per game and 5.7 yards per carry. They have not been throwing the ball a lot with Williams taking over at quarterback, but they are not going to need to as Utah State averages 216.6 rushing yards allowed per game and 5.6 yards per carry so UNLV will have success on the ground here and that will milk the clock more as well. Utah State also has a very good run game so they are going to try and establish the run game here at home and keep the UNLV offense off the field with longer drives. UNLV does have a very good run defense though, averaging 94.2 rushing yards allowed per game, so Utah State is also going to struggle more on offense and if they cannot run the ball here, it will disrupt their game plan as Petras is not the kind of quarterback to rely on his arm. This is going to be a low scoring and more defensive game that stays under the total.
