FIU is coming into this game with a 2-5 record this season, but they are 1-2 in the conference and have played much tougher in those games. They are coming off of a 30-21 loss on the road against UTEP in their last game which they will be hungry to bounce back from, but they have played much better in their other 2 conference games. They only lost by 7 points on the road against Liberty, holding off a very good run game in that one, and they also won their only conference game at home which was a 17-10 win over LA Tech. They are going up against a Sam Houston team that is 5-2 this season and they are 2-1 in the conference. They are coming off of their 1st conference loss of the season, losing at home to Western Kentucky 31-14. They were in that game in the 1st half and were playing very well, but everything started to go South when they lost their starting quarterback to an injury. He is now questionable for this game and will likely be a game-time decision, but that is a huge loss as they were awful in the 2nd half when the backup came in to relieve him. FIU also lost their starting quarterback in their last game, but he is feeling much better and will be ready to go for this game so that gives this FIU offense a big boost here at home. Sam Houston does have a very strong run game and FIU has struggled to stop the run all season, but they were able to keep a very strong run game in Liberty at bay on the road a few weeks ago and this Sam Houston run game struggled to get going last week against a weaker Western Kentucky run defense as well. Sam Houston is going to make mistakes on offense with their backup quarterback and FIU will be able to stay in this game with the possibility of winning it as well.
