Result: Win
Northern Illinois is coming into this game with a 4-4 record this season and they are 1-3 in the conference. They have lost their last 2 straight games, losing at home to Toledo 13-6 and then on the road to Ball State 25-23 in their last game, but they have also had a stronger schedule this season. They are going up against a Western Michigan team that is 5-3 this season and is 4-0 in the conference. They have won their last 4 straight games and they are the only undefeated team in the conference right now, but they have also had a very weak schedule in the conference. They beat up on Akron and Kent State who are the 2 worst teams in the conference and they also have wins over Buffalo and Ball State who have awful defenses. Northern Illinois has a much better defense and they are not going to allow Western Michigan to score a lot of points like they have been doing recently. Western Michigan has not been good on defense either as they have allowed 21+ points in all 8 games this season, allowing 40+ points in 2 of their last 4 as well. NIU has lost their last 2 straight games, but they have only allowed more than 20 points in 1 of their last 3 games. Western Michigan has a great run game and will try to move the ball on the ground here, but NIU is only allowing 110.1 rushing yards per game and 3.3 yards per carry. Their pass defense has also been great and they are going to get up for this game to try and snap the undefeated conference record of WMU. NIU also has a great run game themselves and WMU has been allowing 173.1 rushing yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry so NIU will be able to move the ball here and score. Northern Illinois is going to cover the spread in this game.
