North Carolina is coming into this game with a 22-13 record this season and they were 13-7 in their conference. They lost in their conference tourny to Duke 74-71, but they have won 2 of their last 3 as well as 8 of their last 10 games with both losses in that span coming against Duke. They have been dominant in these wins with a lot of their recent wins coming by 10+ points, but they struggled a lot in their non-conference schedule. They were 8-5 in their non-conference games with their only quality win coming against UCLA as they were 1-12 in quadrant 1 this season. They are going up against a San Diego State team that is 21-9 this season and they were 14-6 in their conference. They lost in their 1st game of the conference tourny against Boise State and they have won 3 of their last 5 games now. They have struggled a bit recently with 3 of their losses coming in their last 6 games, but they have been a very good team all season and even played well in their non-conference schedule. They were 7-2 in their non-conference games this season and they have 2 quality wins against Creighton and Houston, Houston being a number 1 seed in this tournament and being one of the better teams in the country all season. San Diego State does have some tournament experience with their head coach who took this team to the Final Four just 2 years ago, and they pride themselves on great defense. They have one of the better defenses in the country, averaging 63.6 points allowed per game which is 14th in the country, and they have been much better recently as they have held opponents under 63 points in each of their last 2 games. San Diego State also allows the lowest shooting percentage against them from the field in the country so UNC is not going to score easily in this game as San Diego State will frustrate them with good defense. San Diego State will cover the spread in this game.
