Northern Iowa is coming into this game with a 20-12 record this season and they were 14-6 in their conference. They were one of the better teams in their conference all season, but they started to fizzle out at the end of the season and have not been playing well recently. They have lost 3 of their last 4 games and they lost to an awful Valparaiso team by 1 point in their only conference tournament game. Their offense has been awful in this span as well, scoring 63 points or less in 3 of their last 4 games. They have won 2 of their last 3 games on the road, but they also have 2 losses in their last 4 as well as 3 losses in their last 6 road games, and all 3 of those losses were by 10+ points. They were most vulnerable on the road this season as they had 6 losses in their conference and 5 of those came on the road. They also played just 1 road game in their non-conference schedule, losing to Wichita State by 6 points, and they also lost all 3 of their games at neutral locations by 8+ points each. They are going up against an SMU team that is 23-10 this season and they were 13-7 in their conference. They are coming off of a 57-54 loss against Clemson in the ACC Tournament and they had a very good year despite not playing their best toward the end of the season. They have lost 2 of their last 3 games at home, but prior to that they did win 3 straight as well as 4 of their last 5 games at home with all 4 of those wins coming by 10+ points. SMU was also dominant at home in the non-conference schedule as they won 6 of their 7 games there with all 6 wins coming by 10+ points. SMU has been much better than Northern Iowa in every way from shooting to rebounding and SMU will dominate this game at home like they have in most of their non-conference games this season. SMU will cover the spread in this game.
