They are going up against a Jets team that is 48-19-4 this season and they have been one of the better teams in the league all season, but recently they have not been playing that well. They are coming off of a 5-3 loss at home against the Sabres in their last game and they have lost 2 of their last 3 games. Their 1 win in that span came on the road against the Oilers 4-3, but it was also a close game that went to OT. Their defense has not been that good recently either, allowing at least 5 goals in 2 of their last 3 games and averaging close to 5 goals allowed per game in that 3 game span. They have won 2 of their last 3 games at home, but they lost their last game there to the Sabres and they have also played in some closer games against bad teams. The Jets beat the Capitals in Washington at the beginning of February and that was a close 5-4 game that went to OT so the Capitals are going to be hungry for revenge here and this will be their only chance to split the season series with the Jets while also giving themselves a 4 point lead over the Jets in the Presidents' Trophy race.
