This is a revenge game for Gonzaga as they played Purdue in the regular season and lost by 10 points. Gonzaga have dealt with some of their weaknesses by utilizing the portal this season to fill those holes with skilled players in addition to what they have so they don’t fall short like they did in last season's national tournament. This team is finally coming together at the right time in the season to be effective. Gonzaga will make sure that they can cover Edey effectively to make him more of a non factor in this game. Gonzaga should have a better shooting game than they did in the Hawaii tournament as this roster is talented and has good guard play. This team is playing this tournament with no pressure like they did last season because they are not expected to win it this season. That will allow them to play their best game with the spotlight off of them as this team lines up well against Purdue. This is the team that Purdue will have to get by if they want to advance further so they must play the full 40 minutes against Gonzaga but expect Purdue to experience some regression from their last game where they were practically perfect. The Bulldogs may not defend the three well but they can defend the 2 in the interior and they have a chance to take Edey out of the paint and do a better job than their previous effort. Gonzaga must make their threes and be on target with their shooting or this could be a long night for them, but they will play better because they have an elite offense. Expect some regression from Purdue. Gonzaga does put up an average of over 83 points per game and they do have the experienced players and coaching staff to be competitive to win this game outright. Purdue has not looked good in every game this season and struggled with lesser mid majors. Expect a robust effort from Gonzaga to stay within the number.
