- Tennessee is coming off a bye and Kentucky is very banged up. The Wildcats defense has not been its normal self the last 3 weeks, especially against the run. In those 3 weeks, they have given up an average of 225 yards at over 5 yards a clip. They have 3 key pieces of the front 7 out for this game (Weaver and Hayes on the line and Jackson at LB). The Vols are a run-first team and will likely have great success there this weekend.
- Defensively the Vols have been very impressive this year. Kentucky benched starting QB, Brock Vandergriff, last week so it is TBD where the Wildcats go this weekend at QB either him or Rutgers transfer Gavin Wimsatt who is more of a running QB. Regardless the Kentucky offense have been a disappointment and will likely struggle to score. Additionally, Kentucky will be without starting TE, Jordan Dingle, and starting RT Gerald Mincey.
- On top of the injuries already noted, Kentucky is also out starting CB Maxwell Hairston and potentially his backup DJ Waller who is listed as questionable.
