7* CFB Total Of The Week: New Mexico vs LSU
(NCAAF) New Mexico vs. LSU,
Total: 45.00 | -110.00 Under
Result: Win
The New Mexico Lobos averaged just 12.9 ppg last year and while they have been better this year, it is still not an offense that will strike fear in the hearts of many. Tonight they face an SEC defense that just held a very good Mississippi State offense to 16 points. LSU has one of the best defensive lines in the nation, while the Lobos have one of the worst offensive lines in the MWC. I really don't see the Lobos scoring double digits in this game. Defensive Coordinator, Rocky Long has been an excellent defensive coach where ever he has gone and he has built a strong defense here at New Mexico as the Lobos rank 15th in the nation in total yards allowed and 19th in points allowed, giving up just 13.7 ppg. LSU scored 65 points in their game against an FCS foe this year but have averaged just 27 ppg in their two games against FBS foes. This is not a strong offensive team. They have a god receiving corp but are weak at QB and have one of the worst offensive lines in the SEC. Another thing that will slow down the LSU offense is that they won't get as many touches as New Mexico will run, run, and run some more, which will eat up plenty of the clock. Lastly, the Under is 6-0 in New Mexico's last 6 road games and 5-1 in LSU's last 6 games following an ATS win.
