#685 ASA CBB FREE PLAY ON - Oklahoma State +8.5 @ Texas Tech, 4 PM ET - We are taking the inflated number with Oklahoma State and the points over Texas Tech in this Big 12 showdown. The Total on this game is lower than NCAA standards because both teams are outstanding defensively. When it comes to adjusted efficiency, the Cowboys rank 25th in the nation allowing just .916 points per possession. The Red Raiders are #1 in the same defensive category allowing just .855PPP. A number this high, in what shapes up to be a lower scoring game, is too hard to pass up. Texas Tech has a pair of losses on their resume to Kansas and Houston who both rate higher than Oklahoma State, but TT also has a 2-point win against Oklahoma who is similar to the Cowboys. The Cowboys are coming off back-to-back close losses to TCU and Texas and an 0-3 record to start conference play would be devastating. Those two Big 12 losses came by a combined 4-points. OSU relies on phenom Cade Cunningham who potentially could be the first pick in the NBA draft next season but he's hardly alone on the OSU roster when it comes to offensive production. The Cowboys feature nine players that average at least 6.0 points per game. No other Big 12 team has more than six players averaging that many points per game. Going back to last season, Oklahoma State has won 10 of its last 12 and 14 of its last 19. OSU won four of their last five true road games and five of their last six away from GIA. We aren’t ignoring Texas Tech’s outstanding home record under Chris Beard but this number is clearly inflated considering OSU was just a +6.5-point dog in Texas who rates higher than Tech. Okie State can match Tech defensively and keep this game close throughout.
