#607/608 ASA PLAY ON Under 140 Points – Wofford vs Tennessee, Tuesday at 6:30 PM ET - Wofford’s offense has had a couple of higher scoring games to start the season vs Brevard & High Point but that ends here. Tennessee’s defense ranked #1 in the nation in efficiency last season allowing 0.87 PPP and they’ve started this season with the same type of numbers. In their opener they held Tennessee Tech to 42 points (Tech had 12 points at half) and 0,62 PPP and then held what we think will be a very good Wisconsin offense to less than 1.00 PPP at the Kohl Center on Friday. Wofford’s most recent game was a 99-98 win over a very fast paced and poor defensive team in High Point. We feel that game has pushed this total higher than it should be in what will be a much slower paced game vs the brick wall defense of the Vols. The Terriers prefer to play a slower tempo game (291st in adjusted tempo last year) but got into a track meet vs High Point. Tennessee also plays slow which should limit possessions in this game. Wofford lost 4 of their 5 starters from last season including their 2 leading scorers who transferred to South Carolina & Iowa State. They will struggle big time to score in this game vs Tennessee and once the Vols get a big lead (they are favored by 30+) they will slow this to a crawl with a big game vs Syracuse on deck for them. No reason for Tennessee to run up the score in the 2nd half of this one. This game stays Under the total.
