#957/958 ASA PLAY ON Over 9 Runs – Arizona Diamondbacks versus San Francisco Giants, Monday at 9:40 PM ET - Looks like a bullpen game for the Giants tonight and their 4.42 ERA ranks them 23rd out of 30 teams in the majors. There is a chance that Spencer Howard could see the bulk of the work here but though is first MLB appearance went well this season - 5 hits allowed in 4 scoreless innings - Howard has struggled in the minors both this season and last season. No matter who the Giants use out of the bullpen for bulk work we like our chances here for the Dbacks bats at home to take advantage. As for the San Francisco bats, they take advantage of facing a struggling starter here. Arizona is likely going with Ryne Nelson here and he is having a tough season with a 6.02 ERA and a .337 BAA but the numbers get even worse at home. At Chase Field, Nelson has an 8.66 ERA and opponents are hitting .378 against him! Also, the Arizona bullpen behind him is ranked 2nd to last in the NL for WHIP with a 1.38 and so they have been struggling often just like the Giants pen this season. Arizona enters this one being known for scoring better here at home and they are off a road trip where they scored 24 runs in the final 3 games of that trip. San Francisco has finally cooled off but is still 10-6 L16 games and is averaging almost 6 runs scored per game during this stretch. Over is the call in this one Monday night.
