When the teams last met on Dec. 3 there were 10 goals scored in Dallas' 7-3 victory. While I don't expect 10 goals to be scored again, I do believe it's not too much for each team to produce at least three goals apiece.

The much-improved Avalanche rank fifth in the league in goals scored. They have scored 22 goals during their last five games. Dallas still remains without defenseman Marc Methot.

The Stars aren't the scoring machine they were two seasons ago, but they are better than last season. Dallas ranks 12th in scoring. They've scored at least four goals in six of their last eight games. They draw the Avalanche without goalie Semyon Varlamov, who is out with a groin injury.
