This is an 8* COAST-TO-COAST TOTAL EXPRESS on the UNDER between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Nashville Predators.
For a number of different situational and strong trend based O/U reasons, I expect this total to fall below the posted number once the final horn blares. Nashville has to be the biggest surprise so far this year, it has the Western Conference's third best record. Conversely, Philadelphia has so far been one of the biggest disappointments, but does come to town off three-straight road wins. The Flyers have been explosive on the offensive end of the ice but now run smack dab into one of the league's elite goaltenders in Pekka Rinne, who is third in the NHL with a 1.84 GAA and who has won both home starts vs. the Flyers. The Predators will also be extra motivated to make up for a 5-3 loss at Boston on Tuesday. Note that Philadelphia has seen the total go UNDER the number in three of four this year after playing to three or more consecutive OVERS and in three of four after playing three or more consecutive road games. And note that Nashville has seen the total dip below the posted number in both games that it's played this year after a loss by 2 goals or more and in nine of 12 this season vs. teams with losing records. I fully expect a hard-fought, lower-scoring battle, play on the UNDER.
