This is an 8* O/U COAST-TO-COAST EXPRESS on the OVER between the Anaheim Ducks and the New York Islanders.
For a number of different reasons I expect this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. The once high-flying Isles have been grounded of late, they've totaled just 10 goals in their last seven games, most recently coming off a 3-2 setback to Los Angeles on Thursday; suffice it to say, with just a handful of games left in the regular season to correct the issue, I think it's going to be all hands on deck for the home side today, definitely expect the home side to push the pace of this one from the outset. Anaheim could care less about New York's issues though and will be playing with revenge here after falling 3-2 in OT back on November 5th. Note that the Ducks would give up 12 total goals over the first two games of their five-game road trip before bouncing back with a 3-2 OT win in Boston on Thursday. Goaltenders do not actually factor into this selection for me whatsoever, this area is a "wash" in my opinion, but note that Anaheim has seen the total go OVER the number in nine of 16 in revenging a home loss vs. an opponent this year and in 16 of 28 non-conference contests, while New York has seen the total sail above the posted number in 14 of 26 non-conference games. In my opinion, all signs do indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move in this contest.
