AAA's 10* American League "ASSASSIN!"
(MLB) NY Yankees vs. Oakland,
Money Line: -128.00 Oakland (Home)
Result: Win
Money Line: -128.00 Oakland (Home)
Result: Win
This is a 10* ASSASSIN on the Oakland Athletics.
Jesse Chavez is just 1-5 for the A's this year, but sports a fantastic 2.44 ERA. Clearly a victim of poor run support, the conditions would now seem perfect though for Chavez to notch another elusive victory and in my professional opinion, this is the very definition of great line value. Chavez lost 1-0 to Detroit on Tuesday, holding the Tigers to one unearned run off of five hits over eight innings of work: "His win-loss isn't even close to indicative to how well he's pitched," A's manager Bob Melvin confirmed. "He can't knock in runs. All he can do is pitch and keep the other team down, and he did that." Note that Chavez has also been particularly sharp against the Yanks throughout his career, posting a 3-0 record and 2.29 ERA in two starts and two relief outings. New York ended its five-game road slide with Saturday's 5-3 win, but has still dropped nine of 11 away overall and 11 of 13 in Oakland. The visitors counter with Adam Warren (3-3, 3.91 ERA) who gave up one run off two hits over 6 1/3's innings in his team's 5-1 win vs. Kansas City on Tuesday; note though that Warren had lost his previous two starts. I'm giving Chavez the nod on the bump in this match-up and that's going to be more than enough to tip the scales in our favor today, play on the ATHLETICS.
