The Dodgers are inching closer to an NL West title and with ace Clayton Kershaw on the mound, we don't expect that goal to take a hit today. LA got back into the winners circle with yesterday's 4-1, making their number just five to clinch a third straight division title. The Dodgers also still hold a 1 1/2 game lead on East-leading New York in the race for home-field advantage. Kershaw (14-7, 2.18 ERA) is coming off his first loss since late July in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh; note though that the hard-throwing southpaw had gone 9-0 with a minuscule 0.98 ERA over his previous 13 outings. The visitors counter with Patrick Corbin (6-4, 2.99 ERA) who has gone 3-1 with a 1.44 ERA over his last five starts and who is 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA in three career outings at Chavez Ravine. This obviously won't be a cake-walk, but despite how well Corbin has thrown of late, we'll give the nod to Kershaw in this matchup. And we'll also give a big nod to the Dodgers in the motivation department, with less than two weeks to go in the regular season, every game becomes crucial.
