Money Line: 104.00 NY Yankees (Home)
Result: Loss
This is a 10* GAME OF THE WEEK on the New York Yankees.
Both the Astros and the Yankees stumbled in their final games of the regular season and now face each other in a winner takes all wild card scenario on Tuesday night. The visitors hand the ball to ace Dallas Keuchel (20-8, 2.48 ERA) who has been a complete "Jekyll and Hyde" pitcher all year; note that it was a crushing setback to the Diamondbacks in Sunday's regular season finale, which would have seen the team host the Wild Card game, as Keuchel is 15-0 with a 1.46 ERA in front of the home town crowd, compared to just 5-8 with a pedestrian 3.77 ERA on the road. Also note that Keuchel will be making a start on three-days rest for the first time in his career. Mashario Tanaka comes in well rested, having not thrown since September 18th due to a strained hamstring and will have all of the Yanks starters ready to assist if needed. Experience in a one game playoff contest like this can't be overlooked, Houston is just feeling happy that it's back to the playoffs for the first time since 2005. Also note that Houston limped its way into the postseason, losing 14 of its last 21, thanks in part to some truly dreadful bullpen play. We're banking on experience and home field advantage to be the difference here and in our professional opinion, this is indeed the very definition of "great line value," play on the YANKEES.
