This is an 8* TOTAL SHOOTOUT on the OVER between Louisville and Florida State.
Neither of these teams has been lighting up the scoreboard at a very prodigious rate this season, but we feel that the conditions are now finally right for a shootout and expect this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. Louisville will be hungry here, after an ugly season-opening loss to Auburn, followed by setbacks to Houston and Clemson, Louisville followed up a win over FCS Samford with another victory over NC State to move back to 1-1 in the ACC. Florida State may be 3-0 in conference play, but it's yet to win convincingly in the ACC and now catches a rested and highly motivated Cardinals team which was off last Saturday (the Seminoles beat Miami 29-24 last weekend). FSU has to be liking its chances today though obviously, especially with a red hot Dalvin Cook who smashed Miami for 222 yards on 22 carries to go along with two major scores. The Seminoles will have their hands full as well today, Louisville will be leaning heavily on surging QB Lamar Jackson who ran for 121 yards and a score vs. the Wolfpack and who leads the team with 435 rushing yards. It's an important and potentially dangerous game for both teams and because of that, we're expecting each to open up the playbook today. Note that Louisville has seen the total go OVER the number in three of its last five as an underdog in the 3.5 to 10 points range, while Florida State has seen the total sail above the posted number in five of its last eight as a favorite of 3.5 to 10 points. The writing is on the wall and a shootout is in the cards, all signs do indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move in this contest.
