This is an 8* ATS BEATDOWN on Connecticut.
I think the visitors can keep this one close enough to sneak in through the back door as the game comes down the stretch. The No. 18 Pirates come in a bit flat footed I believe after their week off, a crucial factor that we can take advantage of. East Carolina has won four-straight, most recently a come from behind 28-17 effort at South Florida on October 11th. East Carolina looked sloppy though, it committed 12 penalties for 148 yards, while QB Shane Carden finished 24 of 33 for a season-low 250 yards, one TD and one INT. This sets up as a classic "look ahead" spot for the Pirates as well in playing lowly Connecticut which is averaging only 12.8 points per game. However, unlike the Pirates, I think the week off between games for the Huskies will be beneficial, the team has had time to collect itself and re-focus after a 12-3 loss at Tulane on October 11th. So despite its struggles, UConn has a real opportunity to keep this one competitive, note that it is 3-2 ATS in its last five following a bye week, while East Carolina is just 2-4 ATS in its last six in the same position. I think the situation, the numbers and the trends all point to CONNECTICUT as the savvy wager in this one.
