The New York Mets won the opener of this series 3-2 on Thursday. I expect another low-scoring affair Friday night.

Nationals' righty Max Scherzer (4-4, 3.67 ERA) was not charged with an earned run through 5 2/3 innings of 2-1 loss at Miami (seven-inning game) last time out. He has made two starts against the Mets on the season, limiting them two runs with eight Ks over seven innings of work. The Mets are hitting righties fairly well, but Scherzer is good enough to shut them down.

Mets' righty Rick Porcello (1-6, 5.46 ERA) has pitched fairly well lately, giving up two runs or less in three of his last five starts. Last time out, Porcello held Atlanta to one run with 10 Ks over seven innings of a 7-0 loss. He has faced Washington twice this year, tossing a combined 13 innings and giving up just three runs. The Nats are hitting left-handers better than right-handers and under is 6-2 in their last eight games vs. a right-handed starter.

Both teams bats have been inconsistent over the last week, and I think they'll be quiet in tonight's matchup.
