The Coach's NHL SURE SHOT!
(NHL) Winnipeg vs. Detroit,
Money Line: -157.00 Detroit (Home)

The Wings had won nine of 10 before getting rocked by the Penguins in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, and they will likely be eager to step back into the winner's circle on home ice tonight. The Winnipeg Jets are in town, and they will have some new faces in the lineup after a blockbuster trade with the Sabres. I think the price is reasonable here for a play on the home team versus a struggling opponent.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Goaltending - The Wings welcome their #1 goaltender Jimmy Howard back tonight, as he returns from injury to make his first start since January 10. His teammates should be all fired up, motivated to make his return a successful one. Goaltending has been a sore spot for the Jets recently, as their #1 Michael Hutchison has surrendered 16 goals while losing four of his last five starts. Ondrej Pavelec got the not in the loss to the Preds Thursday, allowing three goals on 26 shots.
2. Home Cookin' - Detroit's home record of 17-4-6 is quite impressive, and the Wings have won six straight at Joe Louis Arena. The Jets are looking to snap a five game road losing streak.
3. X-Factor - The Jets will want to be very cautious not to take any unnecessary penalties, as Detroit's power-play ranks #1 overall in the NHL with a 25.9% conversion rate.
Selection: This is a play on the Detroit Red Wings (8*)
