Texas Rangers -144 (8*)
(MLB) Seattle vs. Texas,
Money Line: -144.00 Texas (Home)
Result: Loss
The Texas Rangers have seized first place in the AL West, and they will try to remain hot as they host Seattle on Friday night. The Mariners expected to be a contender this year, but they have been one of the season's biggest disappointments. The home team has a lot more to play for here, and I like Texas with a favorable match-up at home.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Pitching - The Rangers hand the ball to Yovani Gallardo, who has been hot in the second half. Gallardo (12-10, 3.35 ERA) gave up five runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings in a home loss to Oakland in his last start. He had won five straight before that though, and he's 2-1 with a 1.56 ERA in three starts versus Seattle in 2015. The Mariners will counter with James Paxon, who allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 2.2 innings in his only start versus Texas this season.

2. Batter vs. Pitcher - The Rangers lineup has hit Paxon hard, batting a combined .349 in 43 at bats. Prince Fielder is 4-for-5 lifetime versus the southpaw.

3. X-Factor - Texas has won 21 of it's last 26 home games.
