The Detroit Pistons can clinch a playoff berth with a win against the Washington Wizards Friday night. That would in turn mean that the Wizards are eliminated, and I think they'll be determined to give the Pistons a real tough game playing to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Previous Meetings - The Wizards have won each of the previous three meetings this season. They shot a season-high 56.7 percent in a 124-81 blowout win home in D.C. on March 14 and won 97-95 here at Detroit back in November.
2. Terrible Spot For Detroit - The Pistons won 108-104 at Orlando Wednesday, but that results puts them in a pretty unfavorable spot tonight. The Pistons are 3-11-1 ATS in their last 15 games playing on one days rest, 1-4-1 ATS in their last six Friday night games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following a ATS win. I wouldn't give much credibility to any of these trends one-by-one, but together they're building a strong case for a let down game for Detroit.
3. X-Factor - Underdog is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in the series.
