10* COACH'S PLAYBOOK on LA Clippers.

The Los Angeles Clippers finished as the No. 5 seed in the East to earn homecourt advantage in the first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers. They played some blistering basketball down the stretch and I think they'll be too much to handle for the Blazers tonight.

Here are my keys to the game:

1. Clippers Defensive Advantage - The Clippers had held five straight opponents to fewer than 100 points and an average of 87.2 per game prior to a 114-105 loss to the Suns in the season-finale. They've limited opponents to 97.9 points per game home at Staples Center this season which can be compared to Portland's 106.3 mark on the road.

2. Blake Griffin - The Clippers All-Star forward missed over three months of the regular-season but returned to the lineup on April 3 to play in five of the final seven games. He averaged 10.4 points on 40 percent shooting in 24.6 minutes during that stretch and while Portland has a talented backcourt, they don't have anyone to stop Griffin.

3. X-Factor - Los Angeles did well to contain Damian Lillard over four meetings during the regular-season holding the guard to just 18 on 32.4 percent shooting, well below his 25.1 points per game average overall.
