Rangers (Allard) vs. Jays (Riu)

I lost on the Jays total last start, underestimating their potent offense. Today it is hard luck Kolby Allard vs. Toronto ace Hyun Jin Ryu. Riu returned to form somewhat after two sub par performances. His starts have been on the short side. Allard is 2-6 and has a 4.76 ERA in July. In past starts he has struggled early, not a good practice against a Jays team that is very potent.

Neither bullpen has been very effective. Some of the Jays’ injured relievers are starting to return, but it is still the team’s weak point.

My wager

Obviously the Jays’ offense is key here. Heading into a pivotal series against Boston, the Jays need this win. I don’t believe the Rangers can in any way compete. Take the Jays on the point spread -1 ½.
