Two solid veterans start face off in the Padres/Brewers game on Friday. Darvish has been pretty generous with the hits of late, with a .289 OP BA in August and 8 runs over 12 innings in his last two starts. He was much more effective in his previous starts. Woodruff has just three starts since returning from the IL. He has held the opposition to a .183 ERA but has given up more runs than expected, allowing 5 home runs in the three starts.
It is odd to think of the light-hitting Brewers outhitting the Padres but that has been the case in the last two weeks. The Brewers' pen has been much better with a 2.41 ERA compared to 4.21 fro the Padres in the last 10 games. The 7-3 (L10) Brewers have been sharp in August and very good at home this year. The Padres are poor on the road and 38-48 against right handed pitching. You won't find a better righty than Woodruff, and really, he is just getting warmed up at this point in his season. I am on the favorite on Friday. Take the Brewers to win.
