The Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons will play overseas in England this week, kicking off at 9:30 AM ET. The Lions needed to rally for a last minute touchdown to sneak past the Saints at home last week, while the Falcons were blown out in Baltimore. Atlanta is looking to avoid a fifth consecutive loss, but I don't like their chances here in an outdoor game across the pond.
Here are my keys to the game:
1. Home Cookin' - The Falcons are 2-1 at home, but they are 0-4 on the road. All four of those games were decided by double-digits. They lost 7-of-8 away from home last year, and I think it's fair to say that this team doesn't travel well.
2. Injuries - The Falcons offensive line has been decimated by injuries, and the latest casualty was center Peter Konz who is done for the year with a knee injury. Matt Ryan was sacked five times last week in Baltimore, and the Lions pass rushers could have a field day here in England.
3. X-Factor - The Lions defense has been dominant this year, ranking 6th overall versus the pass and 3rd overall versus the run. It's not like they've done it against soft opponents either, with wins over the Saints and Packers.
Selection: This is a play on the Detroit Lions ML (7*)
