Brian Hoyer vs. Johnny Manziel is one of the most intriguing QB battles because Hoyer showed flashes last year after he took over for horrid Brandon Weeden. Manziel is getting better each practice.

Detroit has an overrated starting QB and has been backup in Dan Orlovsky with Kellen Moore and James Franklin battling for No. 3. Though both teams have first year coaches, Detroit has Jim Caldwell, who had more than his share of wins in Indianapolis. So the urgency is with Mike Pettine the Browns head coach to win. WR Josh Gordon is expected to play, but with a regular season suspension looming, they can use him a lot.

First rounder TE Eric Ebron is out for Detroit. Calvin Johnson has been rested in practice and will play little at all for the Lions.
