Mariners over Tigers- The Detroit Tigers were expected to once again contend with the Royals for the AL Central but have been a major disappointment as they have fallen under .500 and are 10½ games behind the Royals in the division. The Tigers took 2-of-3 from the Mariners in Seattle in early July when they had Michael Cabrera who is currently on the DL. Seattle will start J.A. Happ (4-5, 4.14 ERA) who has won just once in his last 11 starts but is 1-0 with a 3.66 ERA versus Detroit. The Tigers will start Alfredo Simon (8-6, 4.53) who defeated the Mariners in Seattle despite surrendering five runs in eight hits in just 5.2/3 innings. Look for a home field turnabout here.
